16 day Trekking itinerary

 

A two week Peru Fitness Holiday Trekking Holiday in Cusco.

All of our active holidays are bespoke and created for you, we have put together an example 16 day itinerary that is able to give you an idea of some of the adventures that you could have on your trip. 

What your Adventure Holiday could look like:

Day 1

Most flights arrive in the late afternoon or evening into Peru's capital Lima. You will be taken by private transport to your hotel and will have the late afternoon to relax and explore Miraflores.

Day 2

The morning you have the option to explore the incredible foods of Lima, on a half day bike food tour. This for many of our guests is their highlight in Lima. Other options include a half/full day city tour, exploring the many museums and cultural sites that Lima boasts. 

Day 3

Is a relaxing day in Arequipa, where you are able to explore the city, visiting the impressive Santa Catalina Monastery and trying the famed food at a local Picanteria. 

Day 4

An early is needed for your private two day trek in the Colca Canyon. One of our excellent guides will lead you down and through this incredible piece of breathtaking nature. You will stay the night in the Oasis at the bottom of the Canyon. 

Day 5

The second day of trekking leads slowly leads you through the Canyon before you start the climb up finishing in the small town of Cabanaconde. After visiting the Condor lookout you are able to stay in one of the impressive Lodges or hotels in the Canyon, or relax in one of the many hot springs throughout the Canyon.

Day 7

A relaxing morning is available before taking the tourist bus from Chivay to Puno. Stopping along the way at lookouts. With an English speaking guide you can really appreciate the scenery and sights that you pass.

Day 8

Your two day Lake Titicaca private tour starts with a boat ride, where you visit the floating islands of Urcos before traveling to your homestay on one of the larger islands. You are able to go trekking, for a run or just relax in such a calm and tranquil location.

Day 9 

The second day of your time on Lake Titicaca starts with some Kayaking, before you slowly make your way back to Puno. You have the afternoon in Puno to get your land legs back before taking a night bus to Cusco.

Day 10

In the city of Cusco, you have a morning city tour and in the afternoon, a cooking class where you are able to learn how to make some of the incredible Peruvian dishes such as Lomo Saltado.

Day 11

A morning of some retail therapy before we travel to the Ausangate region of Cusco, with the impressive Ausangate peak (6384m) overlooking the small community where we will spend the night. With hot springs throughout the community you are able to enjoy the quiet community.

Day 12

Today after breakfast provided by the local family that we will be staying with we start out Laguna trek.

We will climb slowly for three hours, passing incredible turquoise lakes before we reach the first lookout. After, we will drop down to the second lookout, with even more impressive views. We will arrive at a crystal clear lake, where those who are brave enough can take a dip. Opposite are the ice capped peaks of Ausangate, so you know the water is fresh! 

Two more hours and we will arrive back to the community, where the hot springs will be waiting for us. 

We then travel that night to the rural community of Pitumarca ready to tackle the Llama trek the next day.

Day 13

Our popular Llama trek is a challenging trek, which is at 4,000 metres or above for the whole 16km. However truly breathtaking views make the effort worth it. This route is for many the highlight of their trip. 

Day 14

A relaxing morning or if you preferred to experience Paddle Boarding or Quad biking they are both possible to do. The afternoon you catch the train to Aquas Calientes ready for Machu Picchu the next day. 

Day 15

A private tour of Machu Picchu, where you are able to explore this truly spectacular wonder of the world. Climbing Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu mountain gives you an even more impressive view of Machu Picchu below and of course the classic photo shot. 

Day 16

Returning back to Lima and onward travel.
